Larry Sutter

Larry Sutter, Ph.D., P.E., is the Principal of Sutter Engineering LLC. He is also a Professor Emeritus and Research Professor in Materials Science & Engineering at Michigan Technological University. His focus areas are concrete durability, the use of supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs), and the implementation of alternative cements and SCMs. His key areas of expertise are materials characterization, materials engineering and production, and development of standard test methods and specifications.

 

Dr. Sutter holds numerous leadership positions within the industry. He is a Fellow of the American Concrete Institute (ACI) and serves as a Director on the ACI Board of Direction. He serves as Chairman of Committee 321 Concrete Durability Code, Vice-Chairman of ACI Committee 232 Fly Ash, and Secretary of ACI Committee 201 Concrete Durability. He is a Board Member for the ACI Center of Excellence for Carbon Neutral Concrete (NEU). He is also a Fellow of ASTM and Vice Chair of both Committees C01 (Cement) and C09 (Concrete) and Chairman of Subcommittees C01.27 Strength, and C09.24 Supplementary Cementitious Materials. Dr. Sutter is a registered Professional Engineer in Michigan.
