Myles Gray

Myles is dedicated to advancing biochar as a comprehensive solution for atmospheric COâ‚‚ removal. As Program Director for the U.S. Biochar Initiative, he leads strategic development, oversees project execution, manages subcontractors, and collaborates closely with partner companies and organizations across the biochar ecosystem.

With deep expertise in biochar material properties and carbon accounting methodologies, Myles has helped develop products and markets that position biochar as a low-carbon alternative to traditionally high–carbon intensity materials. His work spans industrial, agricultural, and infrastructure applications, with a focus on scaling durable carbon removal while delivering co-benefits.

In addition to his work in carbon removal, Myles is a water resources engineer with experience in green infrastructure, stormwater treatment system design, water quality compliance, and soil science. His interdisciplinary background bridges climate mitigation, soil health, and water management solutions.

Myles holds a B.S. in Earth Systems Science from Cornell University and an M.S. in Soil Science and Water Resources Engineering from Oregon State University.
